Victory Christian Academy in Decatur recently upgraded its new outdoor football stadium (seating ~1,500–2,000) to a weather-resistant FBT system designed for even coverage and speech intelligibility. The install was performed by Daniel Helman of DBAV. The audio system centers on a light pole with a pair of Shadow 112s HCTs, flanked by light poles on the left and right—each pole carrying one Shadow 112 HCT and one Shadow 108 CT—for a total of six Shadow 112 HCTs and two Shadow 108 CTs. The system is powered by an FBT MDA 4125 and tuned by an FBT DLM 4800. The team reported a quick, straightforward install. A companion indoor project on campus is also scheduled to wrap shortly.
The result is crisp, consistent coverage across the entire outdoor space. “Great coverage, client’s very happy with it, and very easy to install,” said Daniel, the installer. As a testament to clarity, Daniel’s wife—nearly 200 yards away at home—phoned to say it was too loud and could clearly identify the announcer’s voice. Furthermore, Daniel reports that participants now hear announcements loud and clear, and that referees and staff have praised the system’s intelligibility – he knows this through firsthand experience since his son is on the team that plays at the stadium. Satisfied with the project’s success, Daniel is already quoting another outdoor project using Shadow loudspeakers.
